A groundbreaking new release that accompanied the Pixel 9 launch last night is the Gemini Live, or the artificially intelligent Gemini version that can engage in continuous voice conversations, with users able to interject at any time without having to wait for Gemini to finish speaking, unlike previous Google Assistant iterations.
Currently, Gemini Live is exclusive to the Pixel 9, but it will soon be available for users who purchase the Gemini Advanced package as well.
The Verge had the opportunity to test out Gemini Live at the Pixel 9 launch event and found it to be engaging, akin to speaking with a constantly chatty 9-year-old. Additionally, The Verge received confirmation from Google that the iOS version of Gemini Live will be released shortly.
Another intriguing point to note is that not all Pixel 9 users will have access to Gemini Live, as it is limited to Pixel 9 Pro (including XL) and Pixel 9 Pro Fold users, who will receive Gemini Advanced + 2TB of free storage for 12 months (after which payment will be required to use Gemini Live). Regular Pixel 9 users will not have Gemini Advanced included and will need to pay from day one.
