Data Breach on Dark Web Impacts 73 Million AT&T Customers

AT&T, a major telecommunications operator in the United States, has reported a data breach affecting current and former customers totaling 73 million individuals. This comes after reports of information being posted on the Dark Web two weeks ago.

AT&T stated that from their latest investigation, they have not been able to confirm if this data leak originated from AT&T itself or from a company vendor. The leaked data includes customers’ personal information, including Social Security numbers, from the year 2019 or earlier. It comprises of accounts currently in use by 7.6 million people and accounts that are no longer active by 65.4 million individuals.

The recent investigation has not identified the cause of this data breach. AT&T will provide further updates on the outcome of the investigation.
