Discontinuation of LINE Pay Services in Japan to Merge with PayPay – Thai and Taiwanese Users to Experience Seamless Transactions

LINE Pay in Japan announced its plan to cease operations starting from April 30, 2025. However, LINE Pay services in Thailand and Taiwan will continue as usual.

Having been in operation since 2014, LINE Pay in Japan has amassed over 44 million users. The decision to discontinue services stemmed from the consolidation of companies with Yahoo Japan, forming LY Corporation. This move was made to streamline operations and reduce duplication, with services like credit and debit cards not being transferred. Only the funds in accounts eligible for transfer to PayPay.
