Following the major shift in the monetization strategy of Unity Engine, the company has announced the appointment of a new CEO to replace the outgoing John Riccitiello in 2023. The newly appointed CEO is Matthew Bromberg, former COO (Chief Operating Officer) of Zynga from 2016-2021. Prior to his role at Zynga, he had experience working with EA and serving as the studio manager of BioWare, showcasing a deep understanding of the gaming industry.
Meanwhile, Jim Whitehurst, former CEO of Red Hat who took over as interim CEO in the past 6 months, will transition to the role of Chairman of the Board and return to work with investment company Silver Lake, one of Unity’s major shareholders.
