Microsoft has announced the addition of Copilot feature to Microsoft Teams, as part of the second major upgrade round. This comes after integrating Copilot into Teams in November 2023.
Copilot in meetings enhances chat summarization during meetings, in addition to the existing meeting transcripts. It helps capture all meeting details comprehensively on every topic, even when there are both voice conversations and chat discussions happening in the room. This feature will be available in May.
For Copilot in Teams chat compose box, users can utilize Copilot to compose messages in the chat box, such as adding humorous anecdotes to make the conversation more enjoyable. This feature will be rolled out in April.
Intelligent call recap provides voice summaries of conversations, supporting both VoIP and Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) calls as usual. It will be operational from June.
In addition to the Copilot feature, Microsoft has also announced further enhancements for Teams Rooms systems, including Microsoft IntelliFrame which helps cameras differentiate between individuals in the meeting room and accurately captures images of the people in the room. The speaker recognition and voice isolation features separate and filter out the voices of different speakers in the meeting room, eliminating background noise for clearer audio.
