Enhanced Chatting Experience: WhatsApp Embraces Discord and Telegram-esque Voice Chat for Expansive Group Discussions

WhatsApp recently announced the addition of a new feature that allows group voice chats with up to 128 participants, starting from a minimum of 33 members. This new feature is similar to the voice chat rooms in Discord or Telegram, without sending notifications to every member in the group. Instead, a chat message will be displayed indicating the start of the voice chat, and users can join by simply pressing a button.

According to WhatsApp, this function is only available on primary devices, and the voice chat will end if there are no participants joining for 60 minutes after the initial user or the last participant. Exiting the chat can be done by tapping the X button in the chat room, providing users with flexibility.

The voice chat feature is gradually rolling out for both iOS and Android users.

TLDR: WhatsApp introduces a new feature that enables group voice chats with up to 128 participants, functioning like voice chat rooms in Discord or Telegram. Notifications are not sent to every member, and joining is as simple as pressing a button. The voice chat ends after 60 minutes of inactivity or when no one joins after the initial user. Exiting the chat is easy with the X button. This feature is available for iOS and Android users.
