Enhancing Content Curation: TikTok’s AI-powered Video Identification and Transformation Labels Amplify Editing Capabilities

TikTok has introduced an AI content identification tool to address the rise in AI-generated content and potential confusion among viewers. This tool helps identify content that utilizes AI in creating realistic images, voice stickers, and Deepfake videos to prevent the spread of misinformation.

Creators are now required to label all content created or edited with AI under their username on videos. The company assures that creators who fail to label AI-generated content will not face penalties since it falls outside the realm of their Synthetic Media policy.

In addition, TikTok reveals that they are developing methods for automatic content detection and labeling of AI-generated content. The testing of the “AI-generated” label will commence in the coming week, although details about the technology used for AI identification have not been disclosed.

Furthermore, TikTok will add the term “AI” to all effects that utilize AI, following concerns about the Bold Glamor filter, which previously sparked a viral trend for enhanced makeup effects. Some users were unsure if the filter employed AR technology or AI. At that time, TikTok did not clarify whether the filter utilized AI or not.

TLDR: TikTok introduces an AI content identification tool and mandatory labeling for AI-generated content to prevent misinformation. The platform is also testing automatic AI detection and labeling, and will add “AI” to all effects that use AI technology.
