Upwork is a platform that connects individuals in organizations, from 2,500 top executives to employees and freelancers. The use of AI tools in the workplace has revealed that executives are enthusiastic about AI and have high expectations for employees to enhance their performance, despite employees not always being prepared to use such tools. In many cases, the integration of tools has actually made work more challenging.
The highest expectation of executives for employees is to use AI to increase work efficiency (37%), but in reality, many employees end up experiencing burn-out from trying to meet the organization’s expectations. The majority of executives (69%) acknowledge that employees struggle to meet these demands.
96% of managers believe that AI tools can improve work efficiency, and the majority (81%) have already started implementing these tools in their organizations. However, when looking at employees using AI, half (47%) are unsure how to effectively leverage these tools, and most (77%) claim that some tools actually decrease efficiency. This may stem from executives assuming employees are fully prepared to use these tools, when in reality, employees may not be adequately equipped.
