Microsoft introduces AI assistant on Microsoft 365 Copilot for deep research and search for research purposes, similar to OpenAI’s Deep Research and Google’s Gemini Deep Research. Microsoft separates the AI Agent into two entities: Researcher and Analyst.
The Researcher identifies abilities to facilitate complex data exploration, providing high-quality and more relevant information than ever before. The AI assistant blends OpenAI’s Deep Research model with Microsoft 365 Copilot’s advanced tools, enabling collaboration with external data sources on Salesforce, ServiceNow, Confluence, and more to gain valuable insights.
On the other hand, the Analyst is an AI assistant that works like a data scientist, capable of analyzing raw data and summarizing it effectively. Operating on OpenAI’s o3-mini model customized for step-by-step data analysis, it can write Python commands to tailor data output accordingly.
Both AI Agents will be available for Microsoft 365 Copilot customers from April onwards, with Frontier group having early access. Additionally, Microsoft enhances deep reasoning capabilities and agent flows customization on Microsoft Copilot Studio, a tool to create customized chatbot AI assistants that work systematically and align with specific requirements.
TLDR: Microsoft launches AI assistants, Researcher and Analyst, on Microsoft 365 Copilot for advanced data exploration and analysis, enabling seamless integration with external data sources and customization options for users.
