Mr. Srettha Thavisin, the current Prime Minister of Thailand, recently announced on X that he has engaged in discussions with renowned technology companies, Google and Microsoft. These discussions were aimed at preparing for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and the upcoming APEC conference in San Francisco, United States.
During these discussions, Google expressed its intention to spearhead the digital transformation of Thailand’s economy and highlighted the growing demand for AI across various sectors. Mr. Thavisin believes that Thailand is ready to embrace investment opportunities from Google.
On the other hand, Microsoft sees great potential in Thailand, particularly in terms of clean energy readiness and investment benefits. Microsoft also emphasized the use of AI to enhance government productivity and the upskilling of Thai individuals in AI development. They strongly believe that AI can provide deeper insights into government policies and have a tangible impact on the general public.
In a previous encounter in September, Mr. Thavisin had the opportunity to meet with Elon Musk and teams from Tesla, SpaceX, and Starlink. During this meeting, they exchanged perspectives on the future world powered by clean energy.
The discussions with Google and Microsoft are part of the preparations for the upcoming APEC conference and the signing of the impending MOU. These engagements further underscore Google’s commitment to driving Thailand’s transition into the digital economy and the increasing demand for AI across multiple sectors.
