Foxconn Chairman Foresees Significant Growth in AI, Plans Factory Expansion in Mexico for Demand Surges

Young Liu, the chairman of Foxconn, recently discussed the AI trends with CNBC, highlighting the potential for further advancements. He believes that as AI models become more sophisticated, they will lead to new applications. Furthermore, reaching AGI or general artificial intelligence will significantly enhance AI server businesses.

In evaluating the current AI capabilities on a 4-level scale, Liu suggests that we are currently at level 2, with room to progress to levels 3 and 4. Foxconn’s delivery of servers equipped with the latest NVIDIA GPU Blackwell remains on track for the fourth quarter of 2024. Liu expressed satisfaction with the volume of orders, stating that it exceeded expectations by a significant margin.

The demand for servers has been so high that Foxconn plans to build additional factories in Mexico to meet this specific need. Liu predicts that the next generation of AI will increasingly focus on on-device processing, leading to further growth as AI becomes integrated into various devices.
