GeForce RTX 4090D Unveiled by NVIDIA, Tailored for Exclusive Distribution in China to Comply with Chip Export Regulations

NVIDIA has officially launched the GeForce RTX 4090D graphics card exclusively for sale in China. This card has been designed to comply with the chip export conditions set by the United States, hence the “D” which stands for Dragon.

The specifications of the GeForce RTX 4090D have been slightly reduced compared to the regular RTX 4090 model. It features the same 24GB of GDDR6X memory, but with fewer CUDA cores at 14,592 (compared to 16,384 in the RTX 4090). The power consumption has also been adjusted to 425 watts (down from 450 watts in the RTX 4090), while the clock speed has been increased to 2.28GHz (compared to 2.23GHz in the RTX 4090). The sale price for this card is 12,999 yuan.

The chip export conditions specified by the United States state that the chips must not exceed the designated performance indicators. Currently, the Total Processing Performance (TPP) criterion is being used, and the RTX 4090 surpasses the specified numbers. Therefore, NVIDIA had to release a modified version of the card to meet the criteria.

TLDR: NVIDIA introduces the GeForce RTX 4090D graphics card, designed to comply with US chip export conditions. It offers slightly reduced specifications compared to the RTX 4090, including 14,592 CUDA cores, 24GB of GDDR6X memory, 425W power consumption, and a clock speed of 2.28GHz. This card is available for purchase in China at a price of 12,999 yuan.
