Google Cancels Guest Mode Feature for Casting without Wi-Fi on Chromecast

Google has announced that it is discontinuing the Guest mode feature, which allows guests to cast without connecting to Wi-Fi, on Chromecast. This feature was only available on Chromecast 1, Chromecast Ultra 2, and Chromecast 3.

According to Google’s Chromecast Help page, Guest mode will no longer be supported. The only way for guests to cast from their Android or iOS devices is by connecting to the host’s Wi-Fi network.

Furthermore, users have noticed that Google has removed the option to enable Guest mode from the Chromecast settings in the Google Home app.

Google introduced the Guest mode feature on Chromecast back in 2014. This feature works by emitting its own Wi-Fiand Bluetooth signals to connect to the guest’s device and cast to the screen. Additionally, users would use Guest mode by entering a 4-digit PIN displayed on the screen.
