Google has introduced its Chromebook Plus, a certified high-performance Chromebook laptop with standard AI features that Google desires. It starts at a price of $399, although it was previously rumored to be called the Chromebook X.

The specifications for the Chromebook Plus include the following:

– CPU: Intel Core i3 Gen 12 or AMD Ryzen 3 7000 and above
– RAM: 8GB and above
– Storage: 128GB and above
– Webcam: 1080p and must have Temporal Noise Reduction feature
– Display: Full HD IPS and above

From the specs, it is evident that Google puts significant emphasis on the webcam. Google states that ChromeOS has AI features that enhance image clarity, adjust lighting, reduce background noise, and blur backgrounds. These features are applicable to all online conferencing apps, not just Google Meet, but also Zoom, Teams, and others.

Other AI features mainly focus on image-related tasks, such as editing photos on Google Photos with the Magic Erase feature. Similar features are also available on other ChromeOS apps like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Express, and LumaFusion.

Google also showcases the improved performance of the Chromebook Plus, with a more powerful CPU, double the average amount of RAM, and double the storage capacity. This allows for better offline work by enabling users to easily save files from Google Drive onto the device.

On this occasion, Google and its OEM partners have unveiled a number of new Chromebook Plus models. Among the models that Google showcases on its website are:

– HP Chromebook Plus 15.6″ ($499) and x360 14″ ($699)
– ASUS Chromebook Plus CX34 ($399) and CM34 Flip ($499)
– Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook Plus ($499) and Slim 3i ($549)
– Acer Chromebook Plus 515 ($399) and 514 ($399)
