Indonesia bestows exclusive visa upon Sam Altman, the Chief Executive Officer of OpenAI, as the inaugural recipient

The Indonesian Immigration Office has announced the awarding of a special visa under the Indonesia Golden Visa project to Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, in order to contribute to the development of artificial intelligence in Indonesia.

This special project grants visas to globally important individuals whom the government believes will benefit Indonesia. Sam Altman himself visited Indonesia in 2019.

Holders of this visa are granted special access at separate immigration checkpoints, exempted from filling out the usual residence form, and are allowed to stay longer than usual. The visa options include both 5-year and 10-year durations, with Altman receiving the 10-year visa.
