Intel has announced the cancellation of the annual Intel Innovation 2024 event, originally scheduled for September 24-25 in San Jose, near Intel’s headquarters. The decision was made due to the poor performance in the latest quarter, resulting in the layoff of thousands of employees.
Intel has been hosting the annual event under the name Intel Innovation since CEO Pat Gelsinger took over. However, after three consecutive years, the 2024 event had to be called off. Intel assures that they will return with the event in September 2025.
Typically, Intel uses this platform to showcase new products scheduled for release in the second half of the year. This time, it was expected to unveil the Core Ultra 200 series, codenamed Lunar Lake. With the cancellation of the event, it is speculated that Intel will opt for smaller press conferences for media coverage instead.
The cancellation only impacts the Intel Innovation event, with Intel confirming that other smaller-scale events like Intel Connection and Intel AI Summit will proceed as usual.
