Jolla’s Sailfish OS 5.0 Emerges: Still Alive and Kicking!

Jolla’s Sailfish operating system is still alive and kicking, with the recent release of Sailfish OS 5.0, codenamed Tampella. This update brings a host of new features, including:

– An updated Android AppSupport API to Android 13 (API level 33)
– Compatibility with microG 0.3.6 as an alternative to Google Play Services
– An upgraded Sailfish Browser engine to Gecko 91 ESR
– Support for WireGuard VPN
– Addition of landscape mode for the home and lock screen
– Introduction of the option to block incoming calls

Currently, the Sony Xperia XA2 and 10 series (including the 10 V) are the only smartphones capable of running Sailfish OS, along with Jolla’s own hardware, the Jolla C2 Community Phones.
