Lenovo’s Ambitious Aspiration: Propelling Motorola to a Top 3 Global Position in the Upcoming 3 Years; Currently Holding the 8th Place

Motorola, despite not being active in the Thai market for some time now, continues to perform well in several countries, particularly in the United States and Latin America, with their flagship product, the Razr foldable smartphone, standing out among the rest.

Recently, Matthew Zielinski, the President of International Markets for Motorola, was interviewed by CNBC. In the interview, Zielinski stated that Lenovo’s goal is to propel Motorola to become the world’s third-largest smartphone vendor, after Apple and Samsung, within the next three years.

Currently, Motorola holds a global market share of approximately 4%, making them the 8th largest player in the market. However, when considering specific regions, they rank 3rd in the United States and 2nd in Latin America. The company’s next target is to increase their market share in these regions to a stable 10% and boost sales of premium products, with the Razr falling into this category. Zielinski also mentioned that the majority of Razr users have switched from non-Android smartphones.

Another market that Motorola is preparing to enter is India. This country has a rapidly growing population, and Motorola plans to leverage Lenovo’s smartphone manufacturing capabilities at their Pondicherry factory, aligning with the Indian government’s policy of establishing an electronics manufacturing base in the country.

TLDR: Motorola aims to become the world’s third-largest smartphone vendor within three years, focusing on the US and Latin America markets. They plan to increase market share to 10% and boost sales of premium products, including the Razr foldable smartphone. Additionally, Motorola is eyeing the Indian market to capitalize on its growing population and intends to utilize Lenovo’s manufacturing capabilities in the country.
