Microsoft Teams has announced a plethora of new features at Ignite 2024 earlier this week. One standout feature is Live Transcription, which allows for voice transcription in online meetings, supporting multiple languages simultaneously.
The introduction of this feature enables meeting participants to speak in their own language, with the system transcribing the speech into text and translating it into the desired language instantly. This feature supports transcription in 51 languages and translation into 31 languages. The feature is set to be available in early 2025. Check out a demo at around the 4:00-minute mark.
Additionally, the Intelligence Meeting Recap feature allows users to choose the language for the summary (e.g., conduct a meeting in English and summarize it in Japanese). This feature is expected to be available in 2025.
TLDR: Microsoft Teams introduces Live Transcription supporting multiple languages and Intelligence Meeting Recap feature with language selection options, set to launch in 2025.
