Outsource Your Accounting with Google’s Gemini: Consolidate Receipt Files in Gmail, Upload to Drive, and Summarize in Sheets for Efficiency

One intriguing demo from last night’s Google I/O 2024 event was the integration of Gemini with Google Workspace. The demo showcased the ability to instruct Gemini to search for all receipts in our own Gmail, then consolidate and save the receipt files to Google Drive, organizing expenses into separate categories automatically in a ready-made Google Sheets file.

This feature will start testing with Workspace Labs group within May and roll out to Premium Gemini for Workspace or Google One AI Premium subscribers in June.

Another demo highlighted was the Contextual Smart Reply, assisting in composing email responses based on previous email content. This feature will begin testing with Workspace Labs group in July.

The Google Sheets presentation with expense categorization was well executed.

The demo was 1:00:51 minutes long.

The mobile version of the Gmail app will also add a Gemini star button on the top-right corner, serving as a chatbot to summarize or inquire about email information. For example, comparing prices for roof repair from different contractors who sent separate emails.
