Renowned Game Auteur, Yoshitaka Murayama, Whose Creative Genius Spawns Beloved Game Series Suikoden and Eiyuden Chronicle, Passes Away

Rabbit & Bear Studios has issued a statement mourning the loss of Yoshitaka Murayama, the creator of the Suikoden series and Eiyuden Chronicle, who recently passed away due to illness on February 6th.

Yoshitaka Murayama parted ways with Konami in 2002, prior to the release of Suikoden 3. Later on, Murayama teamed up with Junko Kawano and other members of the team who had previously worked on Suikoden, and announced the creation of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes in 2020 through Kickstarter. The intention behind this project was to carry on the spirit of the Suikoden games.

Rabbit & Bear Studios has revealed that Murayama’s work as a scenario writer for Eiyuden Chronicle has been completed. However, the team is deeply saddened that Murayama will not be able to witness the fans’ response firsthand. Nevertheless, Rabbit & Bear Studios will continue to push forward with Murayama’s dreams by introducing Eiyuden Chronicle to the world, aiming to inherit his legacy and vision through this game.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is scheduled for release on April 23rd, 2024, on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
