Glen Schofield, the creator of the Dead Space game series, has recently announced his departure from Striking Distance Studios, a subsidiary of Krafton, after the release of their first game, The Callisto Protocol, a terrifying sci-fi horror game. The reason for his departure is clear, as The Callisto Protocol did not achieve the desired success in terms of both revenue and critical acclaim. Reports suggest that the game sold around 2 million copies, falling short of the target of 5 million copies. It took three years to develop the game, with an investment of £132 million (almost 6 billion baht).

Striking Distance Studios had just released a DLC for the game called Final Transmission in June 2023, but shortly after, they laid off 32 employees. It is speculated that Schofield waited for these projects to be completed before announcing his departure. However, he has not disclosed his future plans apart from this. Additionally, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the studio have also resigned simultaneously.

In light of these changes, Krafton has appointed Steve Papoutsis as the new head of game development at the studio.
