Overwatch 2 has announced a significant policy change, allowing players to freely choose any character without restrictions. This new character, Venture, marking the 40th hero in the game, will impact the content update starting from Season 10 onwards.
Previously, Overwatch required players to unlock new characters through a Battle Pass before being able to use them. This policy has now been abolished, enabling players to immediately access and play with the new characters.
However, there is a slight exception for new players, who must unlock all characters from Overwatch 1 before being able to play with characters from Overwatch 2.
In Season 10, there will also be a new game mode called Clash, previously showcased at BlizzCon 2023, starting with the Hanaoka map and more maps to follow in the future.
