Revealing TSMC’s Cutting-Edge A14 Production Technology at 1.4 Nanometers Commencing Manufacturing Line in 2028

TSMC has unveiled the A14 chip production technology, which is a name for manufacturing at the 1.4 nanometer level. This can aid in AI processing at the device level such as smartphones. Production is expected to start in 2028. TSMC states that compared to N2 production at 2 nanometers, which will start production this year, the A14 boasts a 15% improvement in speed on the same power usage, or uses less energy at the same speed by 30%. Circuit density is increased by 20%. The architecture used is NanoFlex Pro, a development from N2.

Additionally, the A14 features a new circuit management process for chip packaging, to be used in products ranging from HPC, smartphones, automobiles, to IoT. Following TSMC’s previously announced plan, N2 technology products will start production this year. The next model, A16, is slated for 2026 before the A14, with part of the production expected to take place in TSMC’s Arizona factory in the United States.

TLDR: TSMC introduces A14 chip production technology with improved speed and energy efficiency compared to N2 technology. Plans for N2 production this year and A16 in 2026 are in place.
