Rumor: Google Gearing Up to Commission TSMC for Manufacturing Tensor Chips on Pixel Devices to Replace Samsung

China Times, a reputable news outlet, reports that sources in the supply chain have revealed Google’s discussions with TSMC regarding the production of the Tensor G5 chip, measuring 3 nanometers, for the upcoming Pixel 10. This collaboration signifies TSMC’s expertise in the 3-nanometer node technology.

Currently, Google’s Tensor chips are manufactured by Samsung, including the Tensor G4 for the impending Pixel 9, utilizing the 4-nanometer (SF4) process. While the deal with TSMC is in progress, it remains uncertain whether they will opt for the N3E (Gen 2) or N3P (Gen 3) manufacturing process. However, what is certain is the advancement towards the final stages of design tape out with TSMC.
