Samsung collaborates with Hyundai/Kia to integrate SmartThings devices with automobiles.

Samsung has announced a collaboration with Hyundai Motor Group to expand the functionality of its SmartThings devices to support Hyundai Group’s cars and electric vehicles. The two companies will work together to develop Home-to-Car and Car-to-Home services, as well as comprehensive home energy management services. This collaboration will begin with connecting Samsung’s SmartThings devices to Hyundai and Kia cars.

This new service will allow users to monitor the energy usage of their connected devices at home, including the energy data of electric vehicles and chargers. Users will be able to optimize their car charging times based on their energy usage patterns.

In addition to this partnership, Samsung is also working with HARMAN to develop a system called Ready Upgrade, which will enable existing SmartThings devices to utilize the Car-to-Home service by upgrading their hardware and software.
