The Rust programming language community has recently revealed the results of their 2022 user survey, which gathered responses from 9,433 individuals worldwide. It was found that approximately 30% of the respondents use Rust in their work, not just for personal projects, marking a 52% increase from the previous survey.
The primary reasons for choosing Rust were its performance, bug-free software development, enjoyable writing experience, and language-level security.
On the other hand, those who did not use Rust cited various external factors and the difficulty in learning the language as their main reasons. Interestingly, this challenge in learning was consistent among both the group of individuals who had previously used and stopped using Rust, and the group who had never used it.
Concerns expressed by survey respondents included the limited number of professionals using Rust in the industry and the perceived complexity of the language.
