The Inaugural Showcase of Microsoft’s Perfect Dark Sequel Emerges After 4 Years of Silence, Still without a Release Date Announcement

Microsoft showcased gameplay of the new installment of the game Perfect Dark for the first time since its announcement in 2020, after being in silence for almost 4 years. This installment, considered the third in the series (with Perfect Dark Zero being the second released in 2005, almost 20 years ago), is being developed by Microsoft’s new studio called The Initiative in collaboration with Crystal Dynamics.

The trailer tells the story of Agent Joanna Dark, the series’ main character, who sneaks into the city of Cairo in a futuristic world to capture the villain Daniel Carrington, but ends up getting trapped instead. The gameplay features a mix of stealth, hacking computers, and close-quarters combat with the use of both knives and guns.

The game has not announced its release date or platform yet, but having a trailer released at this level indicates that it is likely ready at some level. The 20-year-long wait of fans will soon come to an end.
