The Asian Games 2023 or officially known as Hangzhou 2022 in China has begun. This year, for the first time, esports will be included as a medal event, following its demonstration in the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia.
A total of 7 gold medals will be awarded in 7 different games, including League of Legends, RoV (Arena of Valor) – China version – Asian Games edition, PUBG Mobile (Peace Elite) – China version – Asian Games edition, Dota 2, Dream Three Kingdoms 2, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, and EA Sports FC Online (formerly known as FIFA Online 4). Unfortunately, the planned Hearthstone competition was canceled due to Blizzard and NetEase’s failure to reach an agreement on organizing the event.
The competition is scheduled to take place from September 24th to October 2nd, 2023, and will be managed by AESF. The Thailand Esports Federation (TESF) has sent athletes to compete in all 7 categories.
