The Revolutionary Duo: iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro Empower You to Calibrate Charging to Cease at Optimal 80% Battery Level

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro possess an intriguing battery feature that Apple has not officially announced, but was discovered within the iOS 17 code prior to this. After Apple sent out a number of devices to the media for review, it confirmed the existence of this setting.

Users now have the option to adjust additional charging settings for their iPhones in Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging > Charging Optimization. Previously, there was only the option to enable or disable Optimized Battery Charging. Now, there are three available choices:

1. Optimized Battery Charging
2. 80% Limit
3. None

The Optimized charging option functions similarly to before, where the iPhone learns usage patterns and charging behavior, with the intention of pausing charging when the battery reaches 80% in certain cases. On the other hand, the new 80% Limit setting will completely stop charging at 80%, aiming to prolong the battery’s lifespan.

It is worth noting that the battery specifications of the iPhone 15 models remain the same as its predecessor, the iPhone 14. Previous reports indicated a significant decrease in health and capacity after just a year of use.

TLDR: The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro have an undisclosed battery feature that was discovered in the iOS 17 code. Users can now choose from three charging options, including an 80% Limit setting to extend battery life. Despite reports of decreased health and capacity, the battery specifications remain unchanged from the previous iPhone 14 model.
