The Witcher’s New Chapter: A Team of 260 People and Cyberpunk’s Assistance

CD Projekt Red recently revealed that their current game project, codenamed Polaris or The Witcher’s new chapter, now has a team of 260 employees (as of the end of July) and they plan to expand the team further by moving people from the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty project once it is completed and released on September 26th.

Currently, Phantom Liberty has a team of 300 employees, which has decreased from its peak in late 2022, but it is still the largest team at CDPR at the moment. After this, a big part of the team will be shifted to assist in the development of Polaris.

CDPR has previously stated that there will be no more updates for Cyberpunk 2077 after Phantom Liberty (although a new Cyberpunk game codenamed Orion may come in the distant future). As for The Witcher, the new trilogy is scheduled to be released in a span of 6 years after the first chapter, Polaris, hits the shelves.

Apart from that, CDPR also has two other projects related to The Witcher. One is The Witcher Remake, codenamed Canis Majoris, developed by external studio Fool’s Theory, and the other is a new game project developed by studio The Molasses Flood, affiliated with CDPR.
