Transforming Confusion: Resolving the Dilemma of Made with AI to AI Insights for Enhanced Information Retrieval

Meta has begun using the tag “Made with AI” on content found to be generated by AI, whether it be images or videos. This decision aligns with the recommendations of the independent Oversight Board since April. However, the “Made with AI” tag has raised concerns as many photographers have found that even uploading regular images could trigger the tag due to minor editing tools being used.

Recently, Meta has acknowledged that the “Made with AI” tag poses issues as it may not accurately reflect what users believe and lacks sufficient detail. This is partly due to the lack of clear industry standards on how AI-generated content should be indicated.

Meta’s proposed solution is to change the tag to “AI info” across all apps, including Facebook and Instagram. This would prompt users to click for further details on what indicators the content possesses, such as if a real image has been edited using software.

It remains uncertain whether altering the tag name will effectively reduce the existing confusion or not.

TLDR: Meta has replaced the “Made with AI” tag with “AI info” to provide more transparency and clarity on AI-generated content across their platforms.
