According to The New York Times, there are reports that Meta is considering launching a subscription package for the EU group of countries to address concerns regarding data collection and ad display. With this package, users who pay on the Meta platform, including Facebook and Instagram, will not see any advertisements.
Currently, Meta allows users in the EU to choose to opt out of data tracking for personalized ads and is preparing to make this setting opt-in instead.
Recently, Ireland fined Meta $1.3 billion for exporting user data outside of the country, which violated GDPR conditions. This has prompted Meta to be more cautious in its service offerings.
