United States Approves $285 Million Funding to Advance Digital Twins Research for Semiconductor Industry.

The United States government has approved a budget of $285 million under the CHIPS Act to promote chip manufacturing in the United States. This initiative includes the establishment of the CHIPS Manufacturing USA institute to support research, development, testing, and digital twins for semiconductor manufacturing processes, advanced packaging, assembly, and testing.

The concept of Digital Twins is being utilized in the semiconductor industry by creating virtual replicas of components or devices that gather real-time data and process it on the cloud. This allows for new development pathways to design, plan, and manufacture with reduced costs.

CHIPS Manufacturing USA will collaborate with a network of 17 research institutes in the United States through innovation and learning to further develop Digital Twins.
