The space shooter game Star Fox by Nintendo was first introduced in 1993 on the Super Famicom and gained immense popularity. Nintendo owned the idea while Argonaut Games, a now-defunct game studio from England, was responsible for the programming.
Fast forward 32 years, Giles Goddard, a programmer from Argonaut Games (later moved to work with Nintendo), unveiled the space shooter game Wild Blue, carrying on the spirit of Star Fox. Developed by Chuhai Labs, Goddard’s current studio, the game features teaser images and a webpage on Steam showcasing a vehicle combat game with animal characters. The protagonist, Bowie Stray, leads the Blue Bombers unit, with the game’s release date yet to be announced.
Nintendo’s own Star Fox series culminated with Star Fox Zero on the Wii U in 2016 (developed by PlatinumGames) and Star Fox 2, a game project shelved since 1995, made available for public play in 2017.
