Unveiling Civilization VII: VR Constructs Culture on Virtual Table with Oculus Quest Meta Quest

Firaxis and Meta have announced the release of Sid Meier’s Civilization VII – VR, an exclusive for Meta Quest 3 and 3S headsets that allows players to build empires as if they were laid out on a real tabletop. Civ 7 VR version places the game map on a virtual table called the Command Table, resembling gameplay in city-building simulations. Players will interact with leaders of other nations standing and playing alongside, simulating a realistic gaming experience.

Developed by PlaySide Studios, experts in VR games who previously contributed to Meta’s Horizon Worlds metaverse development, the game is tentatively scheduled for release in the fall of 2025. Mark Zuckerberg, a fan of the Civilization series, also expressed excitement for the VR version of the game.
