2K Games has revealed details about the upcoming Mafia installment, the fourth in the series (announced since 2022) titled Mafia: The Old Country. Taking us back further into the past than the Italian-American mafia in America (the first trilogy taking place in the fictional cities of Lost Heaven in the 1930s, Empire Bay in the 1940s-1950s, and New Bordeaux in the 1960s), this time delving into the roots on the island of Sicily directly (The Old Country) with a timeline set in the early 1900s, the oldest timeframe in the series so far. However, the storyline has yet to be fully revealed.
Developed by Hangar 13, a studio under the umbrella of 2K, the team behind Mafia III and the Mafia: Definitive Edition remake of the original installment, this new game is expected to reassure fans of the series about the quality and direction of the game.
The game is set to be released in 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, with further details to be unveiled in December 2024.
