4J Studios, a game studio from Scotland, known for their work in developing the console version of Minecraft for Mojang, has announced their own sandbox game titled Reforj (pronounced Reforge).
The gameplay of Reforj follows the open-world sandbox format similar to Minecraft, allowing players to use various blocks to build houses, craft items, and more. The gameplay revolves around exploration, building, and survival in a hostile environment, as players uncover the lost secrets of an ancient civilization.
It remains unclear how Reforj will differentiate itself from the multitude of sandbox games in the market. One intriguing aspect to follow is that 4J Studios, with their intimate knowledge of Minecraft (apart from Mojang themselves), will approach the development of Reforj.
Reforj is being created using the Elements Engine, and is currently in the pre-alpha stage with no release date announced yet. However, it is confirmed that the game will be available on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms.
