Whispers of Google in Advanced Talks to Acquire Wiz Cybersecurity Startup valued at 8.3 Billion Baht

The Wall Street Journal reported that Alphabet, Google’s parent company, is close to finalizing a deal to acquire Wiz, a cybersecurity startup, for a hefty sum of up to 23 billion dollars (approximately 8.31 trillion baht). The official announcement of the acquisition is expected to be made soon if no issues arise beforehand.

Alphabet sees the acquisition of Wiz, a cloud-focused cybersecurity company, as a strategic move to strengthen Google’s cloud services and increase market share. Wiz was founded in 2020 by Assaf Rappaport, who currently serves as the CEO, with a business valuation of 12 billion dollars following its latest funding round. Key investors include Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, and Index Ventures, with projected revenue in 2023 around 350 million dollars.

If this deal goes through, it will be Google’s most significant acquisition to date, surpassing the previous largest deal with Motorola Mobility 12 years ago valued at 12.5 billion dollars.

TLDR: Alphabet is in talks to acquire cybersecurity startup Wiz for a whopping 23 billion dollars to strengthen Google’s cloud services and increase market share, marking it as potentially their largest acquisition ever.
