The European Union, or EU, has introduced new regulations that require smart phones and tablets to have energy labels starting from June 20th onwards.
These labels are similar to energy-saving labels found on electrical appliances and provide information on energy efficiency ratings (rated from A-G), battery usage duration per charging cycle, impact resistance, battery durability, device repairability score, and dust-water resistance level.
Additionally, the EU has set Ecodesign conditions as fundamental requirements for devices, including resistance to impact, dust-water protection capabilities, batteries supporting a minimum of 800 charging cycles, and software updates supported for at least 5 years.
