Google announced at Google I/O that its Google Search information service, which includes a testing feature using Generative AI to help answer questions, is now known as AI Overviews. It will be available to users in the United States next week and will expand to users in other countries. The goal is to reach over 1 billion people within this year.
In addition, Google Search announced new tools and capabilities for AI Overviews:
Adjust – Customize answer formats for easy understanding by users with no background knowledge, or provide as much detail as possible.
Complex Questions – Ask complex questions, and Google will summarize the answers, separating them into topics and searching one by one.
Plan – Assist in designing plans, such as meal recipes for the upcoming 3 days.
Explore – AI helps in selecting answers, such as dinner restaurant choices, with answers in various formats.
Video – Record videos to ask questions, like how to repair different devices.
