Unveiling the Buzz: AirPods Will Sport Fresh Iterations in the Upcoming Year – Introducing the All-New AirPods 4 and AirPods Max, Embracing the USB-C Port Transition

A report by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg states that the upcoming AirPods product lineup, set to be released in 2024, will feature some interesting details.

Gurman begins by addressing the current issue with Apple’s AirPods 3, which have a design similar to the AirPods Pro but lack the noise cancellation feature. The sales of the AirPods 3 have not met Apple’s expectations, as customers often choose to purchase the cheaper AirPods 2 with the same design that is still available. To address this problem, Apple needs to revamp its entire product line.

According to Gurman, Apple will be introducing the AirPods 4 in 2024, divided into two models. The design of these models will resemble both the AirPods 3 and AirPods Pro. The higher-priced model will come with several features similar to the AirPods Pro, such as noise cancellation and a charging case with support for Find My’s audio tracking feature. On the other hand, the lower-priced model will not have these features.

Furthermore, the AirPods 4 will replace the Lightning port with a USB-C port, following Apple’s current trend. This change will leave the AirPods Max as the only AirPods product using the Lightning port. Apple is also expected to release a new version of the AirPods Max with a USB-C port. However, Gurman mentions that this new version of the AirPods Max might not have any additional features.

Lastly, Gurman reveals that the new version of the AirPods Pro will not be available in the coming year, but rather in 2025.

In summary (TLDR):

Apple’s AirPods product lineup is set to undergo a major transformation. The upcoming AirPods 4 models, expected to be released in 2024, will feature a design similar to both the AirPods 3 and AirPods Pro. The higher-priced model will have advanced features like noise cancellation and a charging case with Find My’s audio tracking capability. The lower-priced model will lack these features. Additionally, Apple plans to switch from the Lightning port to the USB-C port for the AirPods 4, leaving the AirPods Max as the only product using Lightning. A new version of the AirPods Max with a USB-C port is also anticipated. However, the release of the new AirPods Pro model is scheduled for 2025.
